Trending - Baroque

Dolce & Gabbana never shy away from a little opulence and they are in good company with designers and the high street embracing the baroque trend for A/W 12 right through to S/S 13.

This trend is all about lavish adornments, decadent fabric and intricate embellishment - it's all in the detail! Think velvet; gold thread embellishment; precious stone colours (emerald; claret; opal; sapphire) and precious metallics.

How to work it on the street?
1. If you are going all-out in embellished details, keeping hair and make up simple keeps it relaxed.

2. Pair a baroque embellished blazer with a simple T-shirt and skinny jeans to nail this look for day. This is the modern way to do baroque chic - fashionistas take note!

3. Olivia Palermo rocks the trend by sporting opulent accessories with neutrals to prove that you don't need to go head to toe to nail this trend.

I will be taking inspiration from the catwalk and the street to create a luxurious feel to my winter/ spring wardrobe. By following their lead, I am investing in a few key pieces that I will be wearing with a simple outfit to nod to the trend without looking like a Russian doll!

I am particularly impressed with ASOS this season (the sale is FANTASTIC) - I have already snapped up the Park Lane embroidered velvet boots in burgandy which will go great with skinny jeans, a fur collar and leather jacket.
