Nutty for Neon

It is time to pull those neons out of the closet and brighten up your Easter weekend - it may even encourage the sun to stick around a bit longer!

The secret is to go bold with your colour choice but the dosage can be as high as you like - a great way of introducing a little highlighting to your oufit is by investing in neon nail polishes. Barry M and American Apparel have great colour selections at budget friendly prices.

I am currently wearing the MissTaken Orange Nail Splash by Missguided on my paws:

If you are feeling bold, match your polish to bright accessories - I love my Biba leather bracelet in neon orange:

I am LOVING neon handbags for an inexpensive pop of colour against my nude jackets and coats while the wind still whips frostbite around the country. You will have seen my fave neon evening clutch from Zara on my Chelsea adventure here. I have also invested in the H&M bucket bag in lime green - total bargain! (H&M £14.99)
Me with my neon Zara bag (see blogpost here)
You may also remember the hoopla over Zara's neon tweed blazer last summer - everyone from Mille Mackintosh to erm me (!) snapped up this little number which made any outfit feel a bit more L.A. and a bit less British summertime.
This season Zara has a whole host of brightly coloured blazers on offer and I predict these to be top picks so get your skates on at Zara.com.
However you decide to embrace the trend - get your bright on now!

Have a very happy Easter bank holiday weekend!

Style Files - Bat Girl

Welcome to Spring.

Snow, gale force winds, rain, flooding, landslides - and that's just this week!

Perhaps a black cape and cashmere jumper combo can help me brave the cold in style - apart from almost making me take off like Bat Girl when the wind got underneath it! All in the name of fashion!

My soft black cape is from eBay and is a really nice velvety fabric and has fast become one of my favourite cover-ups 'Whatever the Weather' (in the words of the Saturdays!)

My cashmere jumper in nude is by Vero Moda (similar here)

Skinny Black Jeans by Oasis

Keep safe and warm this Spring!

Queen Delevingne

Along with most of the fashion world, I have a bit of a style crush on model Cara Delevingne. So you can imagine how excited I was when my 'Queen Delevingne' T-shirt from Black Score arrived today! The hubbie doesn't get it but I can't wait to team this with everything from boyfriend jeans to my cut out faux leather mini by Missguided.

I think it is the fact that despite being impossibly beautiful the young model doesn't take herself too seriously - practically unheard of in the fashion world. Her 'fash pack' friends, including the lovely Rita Ora, only add to her all-round coolness. And those eyebrows! Get your Benefit BrowZings at the ready and get yours camera-ready!
I am the proud owner of the Queen Delevingne tee
(Jordan Dunn 'No.1 Dunn' also available)

Keep on keeping it real Miss Delevingne! We salute you!

Dinosaur Eggs

In an ode to Easter I am doing two things:

1. Trying very hard not to eat Mr White Chocolate Bunny before next Sunday.

Although he is looking rather lonely since the hubbie ate his milk chocolate friend within 3 hours of my mum handing them in (and he wasn't even home for the first two hours - the man hath no restraint!)

My new obsession

2. Decorating my nails rather like a dinosaur egg (or Cadburys mini eggs..Mmmm...) with my new nail obsession, Illamasqua's speckle polish in Scarce.

First spotted on Pinterest and then recommended by one of my fave beauty vloggers AModelRecommends, I knew I had to make this an Easter gift to myself - much more satisfying than chocolate (although that doesn't mean Mr Bunny is safe..!)

Check out other colours at Illamasqua.com

Chasing the Saturdays - LA Style

If you have been watching Chasing the Saturdays on E! you will be craving summer dressing as much as I am! The sun is certainly not sporting his hat in Glasgow as of yet but that hasn't stopped me planning for warming weather (in the vain hope that this freak March snow won't stick around much longer)!

Molly loves a good lace top - just adding a blazer and silk scarf makes this look UK weather-friendly. I love this one by Zara. Molly would approve!

I am also lusting after Frankie's L.A. style. She has been styling playsuits with clashing print scarves. I will be keeping my eyes open for similar styles to pack for my NYC adventure in June. Missguided.co.uk holds a great selection of playsuits - the patchwork denim one is a keeper!

Una has been wearing her trusty nude pumps constantly on the show. These ASOS lullaby ballet flats are perfect for summer and look pretty comfortable.

Just bring on the sunshine!

Accessories Haul!

I cannot stop buying accessories - seriously, somebody stop me (don't worry - I'm sure my husband will)!

But I do think a good accessory can completely transform an outfit. I haven't been shy about saying so in my jewellery blogpot here or in showcasing my leather and animal print satchel from ASOS here.

Lately, I have bought a few bits from Biba, Zara and Accessorize that I thought I would share with you. Now I just need to find the right occasion to show them off!

90s Revival

When you say 90s style icons who springs to mind? Clarissa & Blossom? Prince of Bel Air? Saved by the Bell? The original supermodels?

When the Spring/Summer 2013 shows in Paris and New York screamed return of the 90s my heart skipped a beat. Not in excitement...in pure terror! When I think back to the 90s I do not think chic and fashion forward. However, the 90s did span a decade so surely there must be some fashion worthly elements worth reviving? The spring summer catwalks certainly suggested so.

So how to do 90s for 2013?

Bring the 90s up to date for 2013 by choosing one element at a time. The 90s grunge look is back in a big way - think slashed denim; tie dye; crop tops & tiny denim shorts; dungarees and army jackets. Bring it bang up to date by adding a little luxe in texture, print and colour.

Tartan is a huge part of this trend (see my tartan blogpost for inspiration!) - wear it on tiny minis, shirts, jackets & dresses. Oh and give into the dungarees trend - trust me, it's not going away!

If however you wish to go the whole way and dress like your fave 90s icon the high street has plenty of choice to take you there!
Prince of Bel Air Sweater - now £9 New Look
Blue Stud Tie Dye T-shirt £16.99 New Look

Crop Top
Topshop £8

I have been obsessed with SATC re-runs lately and I will be digging out my Dior saddlebags and statement tees, taking my make up down a notch and embracing the tank-dress once again alla Rhianna.

Whether you take your lead from Clueless or All Saints, be sure to work some 90s nostalgia into your wardrobe this season!

So the 90s revival I will embrace - just let's hope the 00s don't ever come back to haunt us!
