Style Files - Heavy Metal

On Tuesday evening we went to see the new Superman movie 'Man of Steel' and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The fact that Henry Cavill is rather easy on the eye is only a bonus! We didn't opt for the 3D though which may have been a mistake but the special effects were rather mega on their own - I might have left the theatre feeling like I'd been hit by a steam train if they had been 3D. But anyway...onto the outfit!

When I go to the cinema I tend to opt for comfy chic, and jeans and a blazer are my go-to for that genre. I am kind of in love with my metallic 'Mari' bag from Accessorize - it brings a little pazazz to the look. Just big enough to hold an enormous scarf which is just as well because the air conditioning is always a little too weather-optimistic in our local theatre! Now I just need to get back to see the Hangover III and World War Z and I'll be happy - until the next installment of the Hunger Games at least!

Style Files - A Little Bit Country

So I am back in the land of midges and rain clouds and my gladiator sandals no longer seem appropriate. So I picked up these boots in the DP sale and, much to my delight, they make any look a li'l bit country - especially paired with a bit of distressed denim.
Although I originally purchased this Rebecca Minkoff as an accessory for night, I love how it adds a bit of drama to a standard day look. Anything to brighten up my post-holiday blues!

Manhattan...Goodbye and Good Night

Our NYC adventure may be over (for now at least) but here are a few parting shots of Roxy and I doing our thing Manhattan-style!

Style Files - Manhattan Skyline

Manhattan is beautiful all year round but at night it really is breathtaking. Especially from a roof top bar with cocktails!

During a night of bar-hopping in New York we headed to the Renaissance Hotel on East 57th Street to check out the roof top bar on the 17th floor. The night was clear and beautiful and we could (almost) see Jay Z and Beyonce chilling in their apartment in the sky!

The cocktails are go-ood - opt for a pitcher and sit back and enjoy the spectacular view.

Style Files - Limo in the City

I am currently sitting in London Heathrow airport Terminal 5 on my way home from our NYC adventure feeling very depressed indeed! To cheer myself up I thought I would share some pics from our Manhattan escapades.

Thursday night was our allotted 'posh night out' in Manhattan so after a few in Hibernia on 50th & 9th (just for a change) we headed over to EVR, one of those clubs with no name on the door. To keep the riff raff out you know - but yes we found it! The music may have left much to be desired but the night did end with a limo ride around Manhattan and free-flowing champagne so I'm not complaining!

Style Files - SATC Tour

I am a huge Sex and the City fan. That and Friends are the two best never-get-bored-of sitcoms in my book. So when my friend Roxy suggested we do the SATC tour of Manhattan I couldn't think of anything better to do on a sunny NYC morning. Cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery and Cosmos at Scout were only two of the highlights of our trip down memory lane with Carrie, Miranda, Samantha & Charlotte. So when I get home having spent all of my money shopping in New York I will be spending my weekends watching the seasons back to back with a cocktail!

Style Files - NY City Safari

I do love a good tropical print and this silk play suit made the ideal companion on our shopping trip around 5th avenue yesterday. The sun was shining and the credit card was out! Tiffanys, Bloomingdales and a quick stop at the Plaza hotel were some highlights of the day. Oh how I love you New York New York!

Style Files - NYC Baby!

Well I have finally arrived in NYC! Only problem? My luggage is still in London! After all the meticulous packing I did to have the perfect outfit for every eventuality I was instead forced to shop at Times Square at 1am to panic buy overnight essentials. Annoying, yes. But since when do I turn up my nose at free shopping? Er that would be never! (At least my Louboutins were in my hand luggage...)
So I have picked up loads of new bits already (and this is only Day 2) so a NYC haul video will definitely be on the cards when I return to normality (sniff)!

Style Files - Sun Bleached

Summer has finally come to Scotland! And not a minute too soon. With only two days to go till I leave for my trip to New York (SUPER excited!), I am officially in holiday mode. And what better to wear on a sunny day than white - the ultimate holiday colour. It reminds me of sun, sea and lashings of sun bleached sand. I may not be able to find the sea or sand in Glasgow (or in New York for that matter) but I am more than happy to settle for a good dose of sunshine!

Style Files - Comfy Cool

I spent most of yesterday on trains traveling up to Aberdeen. The sun was shining and the temperature was high so that called for a comfortable but cool outfit. I opted for my super comfortably skinny jeans and this loose blouse from the H&M Conscious Collection. I love my new pumps which I picked up at the weekend - chic and comfortable at the same time is a win, win in my book!
